The Living Below the Line challenge was a good thing for our family. It made us think about a vast number of people in the world who live on so little, because they have to. I felt very blessed as I cleaned up our meagre meals and loaded the dishes into the dishwasher. It almost didn't feel right to still be enjoying all of our other first-world conveniences, like indoor plumbing, heat, and a car. But we are feeling compassion and checking our priorities and it was a good week for us.
The day after our 5 days was up, we attended a Cinco de Mayo party where authentic Mexican food was served and we enjoyed a very delicious meal that was a bit heavier, and larger than what we were used to. We also bid and won one too many desserts, so when our kids threw up that night, we were worried that we overdid it on our shrunken stomachs. Turns out it was just the stomach flu.
